Description

Product Information

At first glance, it resembles a standard column speaker, of which there are three types:

A basic column with a row of mid-range drivers and a high-frequency waveguide either at the top or center. This type of speaker can only be used alone; it cannot be scaled variably as effective coupling in the high-frequency range is not possible when adding speakers. They are singular sound sources.

Next, there are column speakers with a coherent row of full-range or mid-range drivers. These columns can be linked together but cannot be directed. With each additional unit, the vertical dispersion inevitably narrows. To extend directivity in the listening area, the speakers in a series are offered in various straight and curved shapes. This results in a relatively large number of speaker types required, reducing flexibility and complicating storage.

Another approach is so-called DSP beam steering. The speakers are controlled inline from top to bottom. Each driver in the column requires its own amplifier channel and DSP controller. Electrical phase and time delay, along with a compiled algorithm, electronically adjust and direct the dispersion. However, this technology is extremely expensive and too complex for many users.

Large line arrays in trapezoidal cabinets can be angled to project the narrow vertical dispersion field precisely into the listening area. This goal is achieved very accurately, avoiding unintended room reflections and improving sound quantity and quality.

When linking line arrays to form a so-called coherent wavefront, interference is prevented, and the system's reach is increased. This explains the line-array effect in simple terms.

The development of the LA-Stick 4x4 has adapted this technology to a column format, incorporating many benefits of a functional line array in compact dimensions, making it significantly more user-friendly. Not a column speaker but a line-array stick! Additionally, just like large line arrays, the LA-Stick features a trapezoidal base and top with an 8˚ tilt. The tilt angle can be finely adjusted externally via a newly developed, innovative ball-bearing-mounted spindle mechanism on the rear panel. This robust mechanism eliminates the need for visible hinge pins on the front of the speaker. With no visible mechanisms or mounting parts on the front, its discreet appearance makes it easy to integrate into sophisticated environments.

Using a special woodworking process, the cabinet sides are tapered to emphasize their elegant appearance. With the LA-Stick, depending on the desired acoustic pressure, any number of long lines can be constructed using just one speaker type. This makes the LA series the most flexible column-style speaker system in the world. A design with 16 Ω output impedance allows operation of up to 8 LA-Sticks with a self-powered active bass or up to 16 with an HDSP-6 amplifier.

The next-generation lightweight 4-inch full-range neodymium drivers are waterproof. The LA-Stick can be used in humid or damp environments, even temporarily in rain. Sophisticated accessories enable various applications and installation options.
